Chicago Center programs are more than simple internships. Urban Academic Practicum
The Chicago Center Academic Semester integrates work experience, an academic seminar and city living for an unforgettable experience. You'll spend three days a week in a professional internship, one day studying the issues of race, class, culture and art in the Chicago Communities and Cultures Seminar, and one day pursuing a directed study of your own choosing. Spending a semester with Chicago Center is a great way to enhance your college experience, earn credit, and expand your career opportunities.

Urban Teaching Practicum
Student teaching through the Chicago Center is one our most rewarding program experiences. You'll visit your school, meet the staff you'll be working with, and see what our neighborhood and housing is like all before you start the program, to make sure your student teaching experience goes smoothly. Then, you'll work in a school setting to gain the credit you need to complete your teaching degree.

Urban Social Work Practicum
For practical social work experience, there is no better place to start your career than in Chicago. Through our placements, you can work in a variety of fields: refugee and immigrant services, medical social work, family services, HIV/AIDS services, community organizing and more. You'll be guided through the program in a weekly seminar, offering mentor advice and professional development.

Private: May Practicum: Chicago Beyond the Skyline
Our May Term allows you to experience the Chicago Center program in a shorter Chicago stay. For three weeks, you'll work in a field that accentuates your college studies and prepares you for the job market, while also exploring the city and experiencing its culture. job market.

City Living
One of the integral aspects of every student program at the Chicago Center is your participation in the culture of Chicago. You'll experience the art, culture, and history of one of Chicago's oldest neighborhoods, Hyde Park, and live cooperatively with roommates in one of the Chicago Center apartments. Living in Chicago enriches your studies and work experience in the Chicago Center programs.
