Leadership Transition at the Chicago Center for Urban Life and Culture

Dear members of the Chicago Center and Philadelphia Center community,

We would like to inform you of a significant leadership change within our organization. After several years of dedicated service, Tyler Hough has decided to resign as Executive Director of the Chicago Center, effective October 4, 2024, due to an upcoming move to be closer to family. Tyler’s leadership, vision, and commitment to our mission have been instrumental in fostering the growth and impact of the Center, and we are immensely grateful for his contributions.

While the Board of Directors initiates the search for a full-time Executive Director, we are pleased to announce that Greg Goldman, the current Director of the Philadelphia Center, will step in as Interim Executive Director, effective October 1, 2024.

Goldman joined The Philadelphia Center in January as lead instructor responsible for translating a First Voice instructional approach through the creation of the new Cultures and Communities seminar. In May, he assumed the role of Director of The Philadelphia Center. Greg brings a deep understanding of urban city dynamics to his role, having spent 10 years in Chicago as part of his 30+ year career as a nonprofit executive. His teaching philosophy emphasizes mutual learning between educators and students, fostering an inclusive environment where all voices are valued and respected. brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership, organizational development, and urban cultural engagement. We are confident that Greg will lead the Chicago Center with energy and focus during this transitional period.

Kevin Hough, President of the Board, shared his thoughts on this leadership transition:  “We are incredibly thankful for Tyler’s passionate leadership and look forward to this new chapter with Greg at the helm. Greg’s experience and commitment to our mission make him the perfect leader to guide us through a seamless transition as we continue serving our students.”

We remain committed to our mission of providing immersive urban experiences and educational opportunities, and we thank you for your continued support during this time of change.

Sincerely,

The Board of Directors
